We are delighted to be providing our online auction platform to Cure Leukaemia – the first official charity partner of the Tour de France in the UK - to help them raise £1million.
Cure Leukaemia, which funds a network of research nurses across the UK that connect patients with pioneering blood cancer clinical trials, was announced as the first-ever official charity partner in the UK for the Tour de France in October 2020, ahead of World Blood Cancer day on Friday 28 May.
Now we are supporting them to run The ‘Ultimate Cycling Prize Draw’, as part of their major cycling event, The Tour 21, which sees 25 amateur cyclists take on all 21 stages of the world-renowned race the week before the professional event in June.
As a result of the COVID-19 crisis, the 2020 event was cancelled leaving Cure Leukaemia with a significant fundraising shortfall.
The prize draw will see all proceeds go to the target and money-can’t-buy prizes include a Pinarello Dogma F12 bike worth £15,000; a coffee and Cake ride with Ben Foster and Geoff Thomas; and a signed jersey from the 2021 Tour de France winner.
Other prizes include:
Cure Leukaemia is using the company’s fully customisable and cost-effective online fundraising platform, which allows charities to create unlimited bespoke online fundraising campaigns from one central location.
We are thrilled to be working with the team on such a prestigious event and to help them hit their target of £1million. We know that many the third sector have found the last year especially challenging so it’s great to see how our online auctions help them continue their sterling efforts to fundraise for such excellent causes.
Cure Leukaemia CEO, James McLaughlin spoke to the Yorkshire Post recently about our partnership. He said: “Cure Leukaemia suffered a £1,700,000 fundraising shortfall in 2020 due to COVID-19 so the £1m target Geoff Thomas and his Tour 21 team have this summer is of vital importance for blood cancer patients across the UK.
“We are very grateful to SliderStock for providing a brilliant platform for our cycling prize draw as the funds raised from these opportunities will all contribute to that £1m target. I am sure there will be many future opportunities for fundraising through SliderStock and we look forward to working with James and the team.”
